Tiger stripe camouflage came in numerous variations during the Vietnam War era. Among them, this item features a derivative pattern that closely resembles the so-called “Gold Tiger.”
With an olive green base, sharp black stripes, and a unique tone tinged with a hint of brown—the beautiful color scheme reminiscent of the Gold Tiger is its main appeal, and the deep, rich hues characteristic of the original fabric remain intact. While many examples have faded significantly, the fact that this piece has retained its original color is certainly a point worth noting.
Another characteristic of this line is its slightly snug fit. With a silhouette typical of locally made garments designed for actual use, its unique fit—which differs from modern sizing—is part of its appeal. Practical details, including cargo pockets, remain intact, making it a fully functional pair of field pants. In fact, I have never seen a larger size, so this pattern was likely manufactured exclusively for the Asian market.
As for the condition, while there is some wear throughout and the button on the back pocket is damaged, the fabric itself is sturdy and the pants remain in a perfectly wearable state. The authentic character that comes from having been genuinely used as a military item further enhances the value of these pants.
Unlike the flashy "Gold Tiger" models, this is a piece for the connoisseur. It’s an attractive pair that can be enjoyed both as a collector’s item and for actual wear. Please note that since this is a used item, returns are not accepted.
