This "TO-78" model tiger stripe shirt was sewn in Okinawa in the late 1970s.
TO78 is a rare item that is said to be the last lot sewn in Okinawa.
The camouflage pattern is similar to the "Silver Tiger" type, with a unique deep green and navy contrast unique to Japanese-made fabrics. It is a slightly shiny cotton twill type fabric that is not ripstop, and is very carefully sewn in Japanese domestic quality, which is a far cry from the crude tailoring of Southeast Asian fabrics. In fact, there is no record of its use during the Vietnam War, and it is assumed that many of them remained unprovisioned. It has been used in Taiwan, Thailand, and parts of the Philippines after the war.

Japanese cotton fabric / sewn in Okinawa
TO-78 stamp / Size A-M notation (inside back)
