The M-65 field jacket is known as the pinnacle of U.S. military field jackets. This item is an authentic piece from the 1976 contract and represents the era when the M-65 reached its final, perfected form.

Adopted in 1965, the M-65 was developed as an improvement over the earlier M-1943 and M-1951 field jackets. Thanks to its high level of refinement—which significantly improved wind resistance, durability, and functionality—it was used in various parts of the world, including the Vietnam War, and continued to serve as the U.S. military’s iconic combat uniform for many years thereafter. It is truly a landmark in military wear, having had a profound influence not only on the history of military uniforms but also on the film and fashion industries.

This item is a 3rd Model from the 1976 contract. It is a relatively early 3rd Model featuring a brass front zipper—a popular specification from before the transition to plastic zippers in later years. The substantial feel and high durability unique to brass zippers are among its key attractions.

JOHN OWNBEY COMPANY was one of the leading contractors that manufactured numerous M-65 jackets during the Vietnam War era and is known for its high-quality stitching.

Judging by the condition of the tag, it is in excellent condition—it can safely be described as unused. The fabric retains its firm stiffness, and there are virtually no signs of wear. While there is minimal aging due to storage, it remains in exceptionally rare condition for an authentic M-65.

The size is the popular X-SMALL-REGULAR. With a size balance that fits Japanese people well, this is a jacket we highly recommend for both practical use and as a collector’s item.

This is a 3rd Model featuring brass zippers, manufactured toward the end of the Vietnam War. Among these, pieces preserved in near-new condition are becoming increasingly difficult to find with each passing year. Combining the iconic specifications of the M-65 with the highest level of preservation, this is a valuable authentic piece that we highly recommend for your long-term collection.

Please note that since this is a used item, returns are not accepted.
