The US Navy WEP (Cold Weather Flight Jacket) exudes an overwhelming presence. This
particular jacket, in particular, is an exceptionally fascinating piece that transcends the boundaries of a mere flight jacket, having been used in both combat and training. The first thing that catches the eye is the cluster of patches adorning the chest.

・VF-74 “BE-DEVILERS”: One of the U.S. Navy’s fighter
squadrons, a combat unit that operated F-4 Phantoms and F-14 Tomcats.

: “LT CHUCK HEATLEY / VF-74”—a realistic design that
strongly suggests this belonged to an actual pilot.

The FIGHTER WEAPONS SCHOOL (commonly known as TOPGUN) patch.

This is the Navy’s premier fighter tactics school, known as “Top Gun.” It is believed to have been worn by one of its instructors
. There is no doubt that the wearer returned from the Vietnam War. Since the school was founded in 1969, it is presumed to belong to one of the early instructors.

Even more important are the patch’s details.

The crosshairs are aligned with the center of the aircraft.

This is a characteristic found on the authentic item and a clear point of distinction from
the replicas commonly found on the market (where the crosshairs align with the tail of the aircraft).

This difference is extremely important to collectors and serves
as one of the details confirming its authenticity. It is a design that truly symbolizes the “elite of Naval Aviation.”

body is MIL-S-18342C (WEP jacket) / manufactured by ALPHA INDUSTRIES

This is a piece from the 1974 contract.

It is padded for excellent warmth and outstanding practicality. The size
is 46 REGULAR, a good fit that remains easy to wear even today.
