The leather patch on the left chest bears the name "DAVE LEFAVOUR CAPT USN" with his handwritten name and service number on the inside. The name patch and inner tag match, indicating that this jacket was indeed "authentic" and was used in the war. The insignia on the name is the badge of NAVAL FLIGHT OFFICER. They are not pilots, but specialists in weapons systems, sensors, navigation, and tactical command aboard aircraft. For example, the radar observer in the movie "Top Gun" is a USN officer. These are very capable soldiers who board fighter planes and aircraft, but are in charge of combat using the systems rather than piloting them.
Although the inner liner shows some wear, the overall condition is very good. There is some age-related damage to the ribs, but this rather accentuates the realistic presence of this jacket.
