This rare piece, often referred to as the “last Japanese-made Tiger,” marks the end of the Tiger Stripe’s history.

This item is a late-model Tiger Stripe—known among collectors as the “Silver Tiger” or “TDD”—whose most distinctive feature is the “TO78” stamp visible on the inside of the collar. Since paper tags were found on bagged deadstock items bearing this stamp in the past, it is believed that this particular piece was part of a production lot manufactured around the late 1970s.

Production is believed to have taken place at a factory in Okinawa or on the Japanese mainland. This pattern marks one of the final chapters in the history of Tiger Stripe uniforms, having been manufactured for only a limited time even after the end of the Vietnam War.

True to its name, “Silver Tiger,” the camouflage features a beautiful color scheme with a slightly subdued olive green base and deep black stripes flowing across it. Rather than being flashy, it boasts a sophisticated color palette, giving the impression of a refined design that has reached a level of maturity distinct from the early Tiger Stripe models.The print has penetrated thoroughly to the reverse side as well, making this a piece where you can fully appreciate the high-quality printing techniques and meticulous stitching characteristic of Japanese-made Tiger Stripe.
