This is a tiger-stripe shirt from the 1960s. It features a pattern sometimes referred to as the “CIDG pattern” and has a U.S. Special Forces patch attached. These are extremely rare, and all are in their original, never-removed condition. The shirt has been altered by adding fabric to the side seams.It is made from “Late War” fabric, leading us to believe this tiger-stripe shirt was worn from the late 1960s to the early 1970s. The alterations are exceptionally well-executed.

The CIDG pattern is characterized by its rough print and relatively stiff fabric. Since it differs in many ways from other Japanese-made tiger-stripe shirts, it is likely made in Vietnam or a neighboring country, such as Thailand or Taiwan. Many examples were used by local Vietnamese soldiers, and while most are small sizes, this one is relatively large. As the color fades, the shirt turns white overall.Overall, it’s in good condition and retains its color, though there are a few patches and some stains. This is a relatively rare pattern.
