A P-56 cotton satin utility jacket adopted by the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) from the late 1950s through the 1960s. A faint USMC anchor stencil remains.

Among U.S. military utility wear, this is a piece unique to the Marine Corps, featuring distinctive details and a rugged aesthetic. The P-56 is known as the Marine Corps’ exclusive utility uniform, adopted in 1956, and was worn in a variety of settings, including training and work on base.

Although the U.S. Army also used the OG-107 utility uniform at the time, the Marine Corps adopted the P-56 with its own unique specifications, and these differences in detail are a major part of its appeal as military wear.

Its most distinctive feature is the two large patch pockets on the front.

Although the pocket design is simple with flaps, the rounded lower edges and the well-balanced, wide placement on both sides give it a distinct look compared to standard OG-107 utility shirts.

Additionally, the front features a concealed button placket.

While the design is simple and stripped of any unnecessary elements, it combines with the presence of the chest pocket to create a look of exceptional refinement. The fabric is a cotton satin with substantial thickness and durability.

Its appeal lies in the OG-107 color—symbolic of U.S. military utility wear—the soft sheen unique to cotton satin, and the texture that develops with repeated wear.

This particular piece has also developed a beautiful olive green hue thanks to the natural fading unique to vintage items.

Also, don’t miss the P-56’s signature details, such as the unique seam running from the shoulder to the sleeve and the slightly oversized collar.

Despite its simple two-pocket design, it has a presence that sets it apart from standard utility shirts.

The P-56 is also a transitional model that led to the later Marine Corps utility uniform, making it a fascinating item in the history of U.S. Marine Corps uniforms.

Today, compared to the Army’s OG-107 utility shirt, opportunities to see the P-56 are limited, and original pieces from that era are particularly sought after by vintage military enthusiasts.

Its practical design, originally created as military workwear, blends naturally with modern fashion and pairs exceptionally well with denim, chinos, and military trousers.

It’s great as a shirt, of course, but we also recommend wearing it as a light jacket.

Details that evoke the Marine Corps’ unique history, the patina of aged cotton satin, and a rugged, unadorned design.

This is the original USMC P-56 utility jacket, packed with the charm of vintage military gear.

This is a pre-owned item that was actually used by the U.S. Marine Corps at the time.

Overall, it shows signs of wear and natural fading, giving it the distinctive texture of cotton satin.

Signs of wear from age are visible around the collar and pockets. There are marks where patches were once attached on the chest and collar.

The stamped markings on the inside have faded and are difficult to read.

This is a piece that allows you to enjoy the unique atmosphere of vintage military gear.

Please note that returns are not accepted for used items.
